REQUIREMENTS
Participation in the class requires a working knowledge of astrological principles. Each class is $10.00. Students may audit the class for free with the understanding that they will not participate but will simply listen to the discussion or they may choose to exchange payment for bringing refreshments or by working one hour at Cosmic Workshop (in-put on computer, filing, categorizing library, etc.
STRUCTURE OF THE MASTER CLASS
The Master Class is an interactive learning experience for advanced and professional astrologers and participates are required to contribute to the discussions. The plan for learning has five steps:
Learn broadly; examine completely; ponder carefully;
discern clearly; and practice exactly.
The class takes several forms depending on who is teaching it and what is going on in the world. There are guest speakers that introduce the class to new subjects. For example, Tashi Powers on progressed declinations plotted on a graph. Jim Baker on solstice points and enegrams; Angel Thompson on phase relationships, the vertex, and spatial astrology. Spencer Grendhal on Lilith; Steve Connors, Jim Shere, David Hayward, Gerry Greenburg, Arthur Chadbourne and others on interpretation. When there are no guest speakers, Angel Thompson or Tashi Powers facilitates the discussion.

No matter what forms emerge, the Class always starts with a 'mystery' chart. That is, with the help of the facilitator, each person, in turn, contributes to the interpretation of the chart. The interpretations are enriched by including the various techniques the Master Class has explored, For example, while reading a chart, we will include information gathered from such astrological specifics as: declinations, progressions, transits, eclipses, solstice points, the vertex, the dark moon, multi-dimensional function of binary planets in their phase relationship, sabien symbols, astro*carto*graphy, local space, and fixed stars, from psychological, mundane, spiritual, electional and horary points of view.
In the past the focus of the Master Class has centered around two types of charts:
Significant charts associated with current astrological or media events

Interpretation of one or more 'mystery' charts. Participants are given a chart with no name and no data and they:
a) Determine the date, time and approximate longitude and latitude. b) Decide the occupation of the chart
c) Ascertain the identity of the chart
d) Address a specific issue regarding the chart.
For the past few months, we have been looking at Presidential charts and the up-coming election. We have also studied Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, all of the Bush people, etc.

*The right (or wrong) usage of power with the charts of Hitler, Ghandi, Mohammed Ali, and Jim Jones.

*Chart of Princess Diana and the question "Is this person alive or dead, how did she died? Was she murdered and if so, will it ever be revealed?"

*Comparing the charts of Prince Charles and Prince Andrew, and Prince William and Prince Harry with the question "What is it in their chart that makes two of them heir apparent

#405 freeway to the #90 freeway. Exit at Marina del Rey and go straight until the street ends at Lincoln Blvd.
Turn right onto Lincoln Blvd. Go to stop light at Washington Blvd.
Turn Left on Washington Blvd. and go straight, past Abbot Kinney, to Via Marina. (Via Marina is on left side while Ocean Ave is right side.
Turn left on Via Marina and stay in right or middle lane. ( Do Not Turn On Admiralty Way)
Go to the stop light on Panay Way, past the Cheesecake factory.
Turn left on Panay Way.
Go to the end of the street. Go around the circle until you are where you came in (360 degrees). To the right is a lawyers office. Go towards the boats and you will see a public telephone booth with a red curb. Park here. Someone will be there to meet you and give you a parking pass to place in your car.
As you are looking towards the boats, turn right, go to the second gate, marked 900. The gate will be opened. Walk down the ramp to the boat at the very end. The master class is on a boat at slip 901 and 902. Welcome Aboard!
THE MASTER CLASS AND KEYWORDS
As well as deepening our astrological knowledge and fine-tuning our interpretive skills, the Master Class develops language, (keywords), for new concepts as well as ancient concepts that are unfamiliar to ordinary knowledge.
Our understanding of astrological principles comes from 5,000 years of observation and correlation. Originally astrologers watched the activity of the night sky to give meaning to natural phenomena on earth. For example, it was noted that when the cluster of stars known as the constellation Aquarius appeared in the summer sky, the river would flow over its banks, nurturing the crops that had been planted, hence Aquarius became known as "The Water Bearer".
However, it is no longer necessary to have direct observation of the stars. Modern astrologers have accurate ephemeris to mark the movement of the planets. In the same way, it is no longer necessary to have direct correlation of the activity in the sky with the activity on earth because modern astrologers have thousands of books, charts, and other astrologer's opinions about the synchronicity of these events.
This idea of using keywords to simplify complex syndromes is a common teaching and learning tool for astrologers. Currently, keywords have been developed for planets in houses, planets in signs, phases of the soli-lunar relationship and aspects. While both teacher and student applaud this system because of its simplicity, unfortunately, often the keyword for the core truth, reducing the richness of the symbols to shallow and superficial stereotypes. Keywords are meant to spark the imagination, leading the inquiring mind to a profound understanding of the myth and magic of the stars.
The Master Class attempts a similar type of study by including the new concept into their own charts as well as the charts of famous people. Because they are proficient in reading a chart with the traditional techniques, their knowledge and experience gives them the opportunity to envision an interpretation of new concepts as well
For example, Pablo Picasso is born with the Sun in Scorpio, and it is commonly agreed that the Sun in Scorpio tends to be very intense, dramatic, and secretive. Picasso's Sun is placed at a declination of l0 degrees South. Using the traditional meaning, the Master class might assume, or presume, l0 degrees South might also be a degree of dramatic and intense secrecy.
The Master Class then studies personal, family, or public charts to determine whether or not their assumption is valid.
. When there is an agreement, they will release their findings to the astrological community for expanded research and as a beginning effort to help others gain insight into newly familiar concepts.
This method doesn't presume to compete with traditional research and its results may or may not be accurate. Yet, it is a kind of research. It comes not from statistics but from hours of intense study, years of personal experience and from the hearts and minds of the sincere seekers of the truth written in the stars.
TOPICS OF INTEREST RECENTLY EXPLORED:
1. Declinations: Developing keywords for each planet and each degree of declination. (I.e. what is an appropriate keyword for the Sun placed at a declination of 20 North or the Moon at a declination of 25 South?
2. Spatial Astrology: Developing keywords for each planet placed within each of the eight compass directions. (I.e. What is an appropriate keyword for the Sun placed in the Southwest, or the Moon in the Northwest.)
3. Developing keywords for newly sited asteroids, major or minor planets (i.e. What is an appropriate keyword to describe the action of the minor planet for such as Chariklo designated originally as object #1997CU26 and later as minor planet 10199).
4. Keywords for Harmonic Charts.
5. Keywords for the phase relationships of planets such Venus and Mars in the new moon phase as compared to the full moon phase.
6. Keywords for Eclipses, planetary nodes, and imaginary planets.
